Hornady® designed American Whitetail® Rifled Slug Shotgun Ammo specifically for use in smooth-bore shotgun barrels. These foster-type slugs are made of lead alloy, and feature grooved rifling to give them some twist as they travel down the bore. A compression-style wad protects the slug at ignition and helps to seal the bore for maximum velocity. A hollow point design initiates expansion for maximum energy transfer. These shotgun slugs hit hard, with adequate power and flat enough trajectory for hunting deer, bear, and hogs out to approximately 150 yards. American Whitetail rifled slug ammunition is loaded in high-brass shells at magnum velocities.
